Since my last post, it is pretty safe to say that life has thrown a lot of new things my way. Job promotions, two internships, a new leadership position with MSU AAF and of course the unavoidable “real-person” job-hunt.

Each of these new experiences have had a positive impact on my future career path, and every day I want to be excited about life after college and what great opportunities my experiences may bring. Then I remember what I have been through to get to this point, and I cannot imagine walking away from Michigan State University come Spring Commencement.

Senior year of college is the definition of BITTERSWEET.

I have found myself thinking a lot about the little things at MSU that I have been surrounded by for the past four years that I will miss the most. So to embrace that, I have decided to put a twist on this blog I started so long ago and pay tribute to all the little things that have impacted my life at Michigan State University.

Please, feel free to comment at any time – let’s share the little moments, together.

Now that my blog has been properly introduced, it is only right that I write a post about the inspiration of my blog. As you may know, in Michigan this year October and November got confused, and it has been in the 50-60 range the past few weeks.

During this return of fall, I found myself taking a step back to really experience the season. What is not to love about fall, beautiful leaves, comfortable temperatures and of course fall inspired foods!

It is only natural that consumers are compelled to make certain purchases during certain seasons. Changes in seasons bring many new opportunities for advertisers to promote products, especially those that may only be seasonal!

When I think of Fall, these are the things that I make a solid effort to enjoy through the months of October and November.

Apple Cider – Deliciousness! I must say that Apple Cider is one of the BEST things about Fall. It is especially good as a hot drink, add a little caramel and you will be in heaven! Apple Cider brings popular coffee shops a chance to promote a drink during the season to bring in new customers, or encourage existing customers to make a new purchase that may become their new favorite! Coffee Shops have also adapted by creating fall flavored coffees. Check out this Pumpkin Spice Coffee at The Coffee Beanery.

Decorations – Who does not love a little of the outdoors, indoors. Head to your favorite craft store during the Fall and get a bundle of artificial leaves, or even a few corn stalks. Be sure to visit your local pumpkin patch for carving. The consumer is apt to be in a better mood when they are surrounded by joyful decorations, especially since they only come out once a year, leaves you less likely to find yourself getting sick of them. Many stores use this idea, they enhance the mood of their consumer with appropriate deco for each time of the year.

Candy Corn – You and I both know that it is hard to make it through a Fall without at least one piece of candy corn. It is just that little piece of sugar that makes the fall complete. And that is why it is in most cases only displayed on store racks during the season. By not always having access to it, the consumer is more likely to purchase it upon its release each year, boosting sales during that particular time period.

Now those are only a few of the Fall pleasures, but there is many more. What do you look for when fall rolls around? Let’s talk about it! What makes you want it just during that particular time of year? What makes your “FALL FOR FALL?”

The world today is full of the unexpected. Unexpected often leads to worry. What will the economy do tomorrow? Will the Big 3 disappear? What happens if I cannot find a job?

My goal as a blogger is to remind readers about the little things in life. The things that if you take a moment to really understand and appreciate them, can relax your day, or put a smile on your face.

As my professional passion lies in advertising, I will take the little things one step further and apply them to the world of advertising. Make you realize that one little thing, can encourage you to think of one big thing, even if it is not intentional.

The little things I come across as I venture through life will inspire the topics of my blogs. They will be things, ideas or even people who will bring me to a new topic. Understand that everyone is entitled to their own opinion and my topics may not affect you the same way they effect me, but take that as an opportunity to look at things in a new light, see things from a different perspective. That being said, I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions, post comments, inspire conversation, share your story.

“it’s the little things” that inspire big things.

“it’s the little things” that can make a great day.

“it’s the little things” that can change your future.
